The CIECAM02 Color Appearance Model

The CIE Technical Committee 8-01, color appearance models for color management applications, has recently proposed a single set of revisions to the CIECAM97s color appearance model. This new model, called CIECAM02, is based on CIECAM97s but includes many revisions and some simplifications. A partial list of revisions includes a linear chromatic adaptation transform, a new non-linear response co...

Multiscale Model of Adaptation, Spatial Vision and Color Appearance

In this paper we present a multiscale color appearance model which simulates luminance, pattern and color processing of the human visual system to accurately predict the color appearance attributes of spectral stimuli in complex surroundings under a wide range of illumination and viewing conditions.

A neurophysiology-inspired steady-state color appearance model.

Color appearance models predict how a patch of color is perceived under specific illumination. We derive a new model based on neuroscientific insights, leading to a simpler explanation of color appearance while at the same time predicting existing psychophysical data with similar accuracy for chroma and higher accuracy for lightness and hue.

The ZLAB Color Appearance Model for Practical Image Reproduction Applications

At its May, 1997 meeting in Kyoto, CIE TC1-34 considered 4 proposed color appearance models for adoption as the CIECAM97s model. The ZLAB model was one of those considered. Although it was rejected by TC1-34 because of its simplicity, there are many situations (such as typical crossmedia image reproduction) for which a more complex model might not be necessary, or even useful. Thus, the ZLAB mo...

A Color Appearance Model Applicable in Mesopic Vision

We propose a color vision model that can be used to predict color appearance in mesopic vision as well as photopic and scotopic vision. It is based on a two-stage model which consists of the cone and opponent stages and it assumes rod intrusion at the opponent stage. The model has the following features to describe the color appearance in mesopic vision. First, it includes a gradual and nonline...
